What is a minimalist knife?
A kitchen knife under 10cm long that can cut meat, fish, and vegetables. This is a small kitchen knife designed primarily for everyday cooking, such as cutting meat, fish, and vegetables on a cutting board, as well as fruits. Beyond just peeling and fine preparation, it can handle small meals all by itself.
The go-to knife for small cooking tasks.
Somaé believes that a minimalist knife must meet three conditions:
- The blade must be less than 10cm long.
- It must be suitable for daily cooking of meat, fish, and vegetables.
-
It must have a structure that prevents fingers from hitting the cutting board and allows force to be applied from above.
It's not just about being small; it's about being usable for everyday cooking. That's what a minimalist knife is.

Large ingredients or cooking in large quantities
Effortless retrieval, cutting, washing, and storing.
In everyday cooking, we don't always cut large ingredients.
Sometimes it's just one tomato, a small piece of chicken, or a pinch of herbs.
With a blade length of less than 10cm, you'll naturally reach for it for small tasks.
Why it can cut even if it's small
Corebacca is not just a small kitchen knife with a shortened blade.
We have designed everything from the handle to the blade's position to make it easy to transfer power to meat and vegetables and to be user-friendly on a cutting board.
Even small, the "High Grip Structure" efficiently transmits power
1. Handle height for easy downward pressure
By positioning the handle higher than the blade, it's easier to transfer force from your hand downwards to the blade. This design makes it easier to push-cut when chopping vegetables or slicing chicken.
2. Finger rest projection
The projection at the front of the handle provides a rest for your finger, preventing your gripping hand from slipping forward. This allows you to apply force more easily even with a small handle, enabling stable knife operation.
3. Ample clearance to prevent fingers from hitting the cutting board
We've ensured ample height between the handle and the cutting board. This prevents your fingers from hitting the cutting board even when using the entire base of the blade, allowing you to cook in a natural posture similar to using a santoku knife.
The height for easy force transfer, the finger-supporting projection, and the ample clearance from the cutting board. This high-grip structure is why a 9.5cm blade can still be used for daily cooking.
Meat, fish, vegetables. This one knife handles your daily small cooking tasks.

A small cooking knife for adults, born from a children's knife.
The origin of corebacca was the development of a children's knife. We wondered if the ease of handling a short blade could be applied to adult daily cooking.
By adding the reliability to cut not only fruits, but also meat, fish, and vegetables, we condensed the functions necessary for small daily cooking into a 9.5cm blade.
core = core of life
bacca = daily harvest
And so, it became a knife that makes you feel, "I only use this one."
Because you use it every day, choose something that will last.
When the sharpness dulls, re-sharpen it; if damaged, repair and reuse it.
Corebacca is designed to be a tool that can be used for a long time as part of your daily life.
